We are a well established Neighbourhood House, with a lot to offer, situated in the centre of the Hallam community.
We invite you to visit or call your Community Learning Centre and keep updated with what is happening via our noticeboards, programs, website and facebook.

Community is the Secret Sauce!

If you think loneliness is not of concern? the health issues from social disconnection increase in heart disease, dementia and stroke all because we lack connection with others.
Of course there is a place of solitude being at home with oneself- but we are built for connection both with ourselves and others- the low socio-economic and the wealthy, the learned and the unlearned, the young and the old all share this experience.
—Dr Vivek Murthy

Neighbourhood Houses all have one thing in common and that is a welcoming environment for all members of the community. HCLC employ a Centre Manager and staff for the day to day operations, but welcome volunteers from the community to help out in a variety of ways. The Committee of Governance is voluntary and ensures that the community interests are high on the agenda … it is a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills or use existing skills as a committee member and to connect and be a part of the decision making process for your local community. The Support Us page shows our current Committee members, and how you can become involved as a member. HCLC is your place to learn new skills, enhance your health & wellbeing, share common interests, meet new and old friends in a safe space in your community. So why not investigate your local Neighbourhood House … read more.
Contact us to discuss the opportunity of using your Community Centre or local community space (Gunns Rd Community Space) for your next small business, group or organisations meeting, birthday party or community group or class. We have various sized rooms, technology, media and equipment available to cater to your needs.
